 Objectives:
Launceston City council were looking to reduce their energy cost and knew that the right cogeneration system would be able to provide significant savings.
The system was designed to maintain the water temperature at 27oC throughout the year.
Project overview:
Goldman Energy (formally Urban Energy Australasia) was engaged in 2012 to design, supply and install a new combined heating and power system (CHP).
Goldman Energy supplied and installed two Tedom T200 engines that will provide the facility with all their thermal requirements and a contribution to their energy whilst running in parallel gird.
Our team at Goldman Energy designed the system to meet Launceston City Council’s requirements and then project managed the installation of the Cogeneration plant to ensure on time delivery.
Outcome:
The T200 engines now supply heat and power to the Launceston Aquatic Centre throughout the day. When the facility has low energy demand the system feeds excess energy back into the grid.
To date the two engines have produced a combined output of over 1.75 million kWh and have run for more than 9000 hours.
