North Sydney Olympic Pool is situated in the stunning location overlooking Sydney Harbour Bridge and Luna Park. The cogeneration system was installed by Goldman Energy (formally Urban Energy Australasia) in 2013.

North Sydney Olympic Pool hosts a number of local swimming carnivals during the summer months.

This historic site includes:

  • Outdoor 50m Olympic Pool
  • Indoor 25m pool
  • Sauna
  • Spa
  • Lane 9 Gymnasium
  • Change facilities

 Objectives:

The North Sydney Council identified Cogeneration as a means to reduce their running cost and their carbon foot print.

 Project Overview:

We supplied a 100kW Cogeneration plant which was installed inside a sound proof container to meet strict noise level requirements. This container was designed by our in house engineering team.

Our engineers designed, supplied and installed the system for the Pool facility. The new system will heat the outdoor 50m pool to 25oC year round and the indoor will be maintained at 29oC.

Our project management team overcame plenty of challenges on this project including craning a 4.2 tonnes Cogen unit into the mezzanine plant room at the Heritage site.

Outcome:

The plant will reduce will CO2 emissions by 367 tonnes per annum which helps North Sydney Council to achieve their sustainability targets.

The plant will produce more than 450,000kWh of electricity per annum providing the Council with a massive saving on the pools power bill.
